The Moray and Maras Salt Mines Tour is a half-day excursion that connects you with the history and culture of Cusco, exploring two iconic sites: the agricultural terraces of Moray and the ancient salt mines of Maras.
The tour starts at 8:30 am from the office in Cusco, with a 1.5-hour drive to Moray, where you will see the circular Inca terraces used for agricultural experiments in different microclimates. Then, you will visit the Maras salt mines, where salt has been produced by hand since ancient times. The experience concludes at 3:00 pm in Cusco, with daily departures and groups of up to 15 people.

Trip to Moray
From our office, we will board a vehicle for a 1.5 hour drive to Moray.
Entrance to Moray
Upon arrival, you will need to purchase your entrance tickets if you have not already done so or present the tickets purchased in advance.
- Guide: Our guide will give you an informative tour about the history and significance of the site.
- Free time: After the explanation, you will have free time to explore and take pictures.
Visit to the Maras Salt Mines
We will continue our tour to the Maras Salt Mines, where you will receive another guided tour to learn about the traditional salt extraction process, practiced in the region for centuries.
Return to Cusco
After visiting the salt mines, we will return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 3:00 pm. The tour will end with a return to the city center.

Tourist Ticket Sacred Valley and Cusco
To access the archaeological sites of the Sacred Valley and Cusco, it is necessary to purchase a Tourist Ticket. You can buy it in person at the Cusco Municipality office or at the first site you visit; remember to bring cash in soles.

General Tourist Ticket (BGT) – 130 Soles:
Valid for 10 days, this ticket allows access to 16 sites throughout the Cusco region. It includes key sites in the Sacred Valley such as Chinchero, Moray, Ollantaytambo and Pisac, as well as sites in Cusco such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Pucapucara, Tambomachay and six museums. It also covers attractions in the south, such as Tipón and Pikillacta. -
Partial Tourist Ticket (PTT) – 70 Soles:
Valid for 2 days, this ticket provides access to four specific sites depending on the selected area. For the Sacred Valley, it includes Chinchero, Moray, Ollantaytambo and Pisac.
Select the ticket that best suits your itinerary to make the most of the Cusco region’s rich history and culture. Please note that tickets are only available on a general or partial basis; they cannot be purchased for a single site. Choose the option that best suits your visit!

Clothing:
The weather in the Sacred Valley is cool and can vary, so it is advisable to dress in layers. Bring:- T-shirt and sweater to adapt to changes in temperature.
- Waterproof jacket or rain poncho.
- Comfortable pants and sneakers or comfortable walking shoes.

Due to the altitude and strong sun exposure, it is essential to:- Use high protection sunscreen.
- Wear sunglasses and a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun.

Don’t forget your camera or smartphone to capture the spectacular landscapes and historic sites of the Sacred Valley. -
Cash:
Bring cash in soles for:- Buy souvenirs and snacks.
- Pay for entrance fees to the Sacred Valley and any other additional expenses.

Water bottle:
Stay hydrated throughout the hike, especially because of the altitude. Bring a reusable water bottle that you can refill. -
Snacks:Bring light snacks like energy bars, nuts or dried fruit to keep your energy up while you explore.

Small backpack:
Carry a light backpack to carry essentials and move around easily. -
Pack light:
It is advisable to travel light, taking only what is necessary for the trip. Make sure to check the weather forecast to be prepared for the weather conditions.

If we cancel the tour due to weather or political reasons, 100% of the cost will be refunded.
