DESCRIPTION OF PLACES TO VISIT

The places to visit in Lima mainly show the architectural wealth of the colonial era. During our visit to this beautiful city we will enjoy:

  • Huaca Pucllana: It is an archaeological site belonging to the Lima culture, located in the district of Miraflores. In the process of research and restoration since 1981, led by the specialist Isabel Flores Espinoza, it is today considered a first-class tourist asset. Adobe and some stone were used for its construction.
  • Its structure features a 25-meter pyramid and a set of courtyards, plazas and enclosures. It includes an exhibition hall, a tourist circuit and other attractions. Its size has decreased over time; historically, some smaller pyramids were destroyed to build houses, roads and parks.
  • Convent of San Francisco: Located in the historic center of Lima, its façade, typical of its time, boasts an elegant baroque style, finely detailed and stylized. Its walls are highlighted by a subtle masonry texture, with wooden railings that adorn the upper part. Inside you will find:
    • – Sacristy
    • – Porter’s lodge and antechamber
    • – Cloister
    • – Chorus
    • – Dome
    • – Convent Archive, among others
  • A highlight of this site are the Catacombs, which surprise most visitors as they served as an ancient cemetery during the colonial era, functioning until 1810. It is estimated that it housed around 25,000 people. Today, numerous artistically displayed bones, including those from mass graves, are on display in several rooms.
  • Central Reserve Bank: An interactive space with art and other visitors, which shows the great wealth of the diverse cultures of the past. It is welcoming, like a small reception centre, which offers a break in the tour. The museum’s collection represents Peruvian art from ancient times to the 21st century.
  • Popular Neighborhoods: We will visit iconic places such as the San Isidro district to tour the famous Parque del Olivo and then the Parque del Amor on the Malecón, offering the best opportunity for unforgettable and unique photos. Later, we will head to the Barranco district to enjoy the famous Puente de los Suspiros and its fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean.
